WCSO, WCFR ASSISTING FWC, COAST GUARD IN SEARCH FOR MISSING BOATER

Late Tuesday evening, Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 3186 N County Highway 393 after a resident called 911 to report a missing person on the Choctawhathee Bay.

The WCSO Marine Unit and Drone Team was activated to assist the Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife alongside Okaloosa MedFlight, Bay County Sheriff’s Office Air One, Walton County Fire Rescue, Florida, and South Walton Fire District.
Information gathered revealed the subject launched a boat from Nicks on the Bay and called his wife for help. The boat was located in the bay; however, the boater has not been located.
At this time the scene, the investigation has been turned over to FWC and Coast Guard as a boating incident. This morning, Walton County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit is back out on the water helping aid in the search.
