Lost Pets

Has your pet wandered away from home? Stray or lost animals are brought into the Walton County Animal Shelter by Animal Control Officers daily. Our mission at WCAS is to return all lost animals that are well taken care of back to their rightful owners. If you’d like to request the assistance of an Animal Control Officer, please call (850) 862-8682.

HOW CAN I BRING MY LOST PET HOME?

Please give us a call or stop by the shelter to pick up your pet. You must provide proof of rabies when you come to pick up your lost animal. If you do not have proof of rabies, your pet must receive a rabies shot before leaving the shelter. Please note, you will have to pay a small kennel fee when retrieving your pet.

WHAT IF MY PET IS NOT LISTED IN THE LOST PET SECTION?

If your pet is not listed on the found cats, found dogs and found livestock pages, they may still be at the Walton County Animal Shelter. Stray or lost animals are held for seven days before they become available for adoption. Once they become available for adoption, they are moved to the Adopt A Pet section of our website. Please click on the below links for a detailed list of all animals currently available for adoption at WCAS. If you find your pet in the adoption available section of our website, you can still come and pick up your pet. Please give us a call or stop by the shelter for more information.
