DeFuniak Springs, Fla—The suspect from a shooting that injured one person in Walton County is now facing multiple charges.
Walton County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home off Caswell Drive just before 11am Sunday morning in reference to a shooting. When they arrived they found the victim, Patrick Wilson, with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. The suspect was identified as Rueben Starnes, 60, also of Caswell Drive.
Investigators believe Starnes confronted the victim at his home armed with a .45 caliber handgun and the two got into a verbal argument over money and drugs. Starnes then pointed the weapon at the victim. A struggle ensued and the victim was shot in the shoulder and Starnes fled the scene. Wilson was treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Starnes was subsequently arrested without incident from his home on Caswell Drive. He now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and armed burglary. He was transported and booked into the Walton County Jail.
