DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla— This yearly tradition is really growing on us. Walton County Sheriff’s Office is happy to announce our participation in “No Shave November” for the 2017 year!

No-Shave November is a month-long journey where participants forgo shaving in order to evoke conversation and raise cancer awareness. The goal is to grow awareness by embracing hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow free!

Deputies who participate are required to make a $30 donation to grow a full beard from November 1st through November 30th. Beards must be tidy and presentable! Proceeds raised from this fundraiser will go to the American Cancer Society. Deputies will be wearing a ‘No Shave November’ pin during duty all throughout the month.

“This is a really fun way to help spread, err grow, awareness throughout our community,” said Sheriff Michael Adkinson. “And the employees love it!

We’re challenging our friends at Washington County to join the effort and show us your best beard!
