How can I obtain a traffic crash report?
If the traffic crash occurred in Walton County, outside the city limits of DeFuniak Springs, you may submit a public records request to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Records Department in person, online, by phone, or by email.

How can I obtain a background check?
At your request, we can perform a local background check. Please provide the individual’s name and date of birth, along with any additional identifiers if available—such as race, sex, maiden name, or known aliases. Local background checks are provided free of charge.

How do I obtain the disposition of an arrest?
Arrest dispositions are maintained by the Clerk of Court’s Office at the courthouse in DeFuniak Springs. This information will indicate whether the arrestee was found guilty, not guilty, or if adjudication was withheld.

When do I pay for my records request?
Records requests are reviewed upon submission. If a fee applies, you will receive a cost estimate or total amount due. Payment is required before any records are released.
