WALTON COUNTY, FLA— A former office manager of a pediatric medical practice in Walton County is charged with stealing more than $170,000 through a long-term scheme to defraud.
Walton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau conducted an investigation, which revealed that Jennifer Consuegra, 45, of Destin, fraudulently obtained more than $171,000 between January 2020 and March 2025.
During this period, Consuegra is alleged to have overpaid herself more than $139,000 in unauthorized payroll increases and bonuses. Additionally, she is accused of using company funds to cover personal expenses, including nearly $2,000 in utility bills and more than $30,000 in family health insurance premiums that were her personal responsibility.
When contacted by investigators, Consuegra declined to provide a statement.
As a result of the investigation, Consuegra has been charged with scheme to defraud over $50,000, a felony in the state of Florida.
“This case highlights the importance of accountability and oversight in protecting businesses from financial exploitation,” said the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. “We remain committed to pursuing justice for victims of fraud and theft in our community. Especially those who take advantage of local business owners.”
On August 29th, Consuegra was arrested and booked into the Walton County Jail, where she received a $25,000 bond. She was released the same day.
