WCSO HOLDS ANNUAL BACKPACK DRIVE TO BENEFIT CHILDREN IN NEED

For Immediate Release

June 23, 2017

Walton County, Fla— Walton County Sheriff’s Office is hosting their annual Backpack Drive for the third year in a row to benefit children in need in our community as they prepare to go back to school this fall.

Through July 28, 2017, WCSO will be collecting backpacks and other school supplies needed for Walton County students to attend classes. Donations can be dropped off at the Sheriff’s Office in DeFuniak Springs or the South Walton Substation in Santa Rosa Beach.

Not only are we challenging the public to donate, we are participating in an inner agency competition to see which bureau can donate the most items. On July 29, WCSO will be hosting a community event at Pat Covell Park where backpacks will be donated to those in need.

“There’s nothing more important than the children in our community,” said Sheriff Michael Adkinson. “This backpack drive gives these kids the boost of confidence they need to tackle the new school year.”

All donations may be dropped off during normal business hours at the north and south end locations.
