ONE JUVENILE CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER IN MOSSY HEAD SHOOTING FOLLOWING SEARCH WARRANT

WALTON COUNTY, FLA— A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Mossy Head that injured a child.

Wednesday morning, investigators with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau conducted a search warrant on W Violet Lane in Mossy Head. The warrant was the result of an investigation into the shooting of an 11-year-old in the early morning hours on May 2nd on W Cypress Avenue.

Luiz Mario Polanco-Gonzalez, 15, is charged with attempted murder, three counts of aggravated assault, shooting into an occupied dwelling, using a two-way communication device in the commission of a felony, and tampering with evidence.

Since the day of the shooting, investigators worked diligently to gather additional evidence leading up to the execution of the search warrant early this morning.

After several hours of interviews were conducted with numerous individuals, investigators were able to link Gonzalez to the shooting where more than two dozen shots were fired.

Gonzalez was transported and booked into the Walton County Jail and subsequently taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice in Crestview where he will await first appearance.
