MAN WHO THREATENED TO SHOOT MOTHER AND HER CHILDREN CONVICTED OF AGGRAVATED ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

WALTON COUNTY, FL – A man who forced his way into a woman’s home and threatened to shoot her in front of her children is convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary with a firearm, and criminal mischief.

On March 8, 2024, a Walton County jury found Alan Michael Kelly, 30, guilty on charges related to an incident on November 18, 2022, where Kelly forced his way in inside his ex-girlfriend’s home and threatened to shoot her in the face with a firearm.

A witness to the incident called 911 and a teen who was visiting the home ran to call for help.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded but were unable to locate Kelly at that time. A few days later, deputies located Kelly and recovered shotgun shells inside his vehicle.

Kelly was released from a 7-year prison sentence on September 28, 2021, making him a Prison Releasee Reoffender and Habitual Felony Offender. He faces a maximum sentence of Life in Prison. Sentencing has been scheduled for May 21, 2024.
