LIFE IN PRISON; DEFUNIAK SPRINGS MAN SENTENCED IN AUGUST 2023 BURGLARY WITH A FIREARM

Kelly was convicted by a Walton County jury on March 8, 2024, for an incident that occurred in August 2023 where he forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s home on Punchbowl Road and threatened to shoot her in the face with a firearm.
Kelly was located a few days later and shotgun shells were recovered in his vehicle. Kelly was released from a 7-year prison sentence on September 28, 2021. He had 14 prior felony convictions.
The investigation and arrest were conducted by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant State Attorney Angela Liles prosecuted the case on behalf of Ginger Bowden Madden, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit of Florida.
Kelly was also sentenced to 10 years in prison as a habitual felony offender on an aggravated assault by threat with a deadly weapon from the same incident.
