Miramar Beach, Fla – WCSO Investigator spots suspect wanted for grand theft at a local gas station early Thursday morning following a trailer being stolen from Yolo Board in Miramar Beach.

Just before 10:00 Wednesday morning, Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to 11610 US Highway 98 W in Miramar Beach in reference to a trailer full of merchandise that was stolen from the property. The victim advised a 2014, 8 X 6 white Husky trailer bearing Florida tag number 496QGF was stolen from outside of the business. The trailer contained paddleboards and miscellaneous memorabilia from the store.

Video surveillance showed a black truck, possibly a Toyota Tacoma, enter the parking lot at approximately 5:40 a.m. and leaving the parking lot with the trailer in tow at approximately 5:44 a.m.

After seeing a post about the theft on Walton County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, two eye witnesses came forward identifying the suspect as Jason Edward Davis, 38, of Santa Rosa Beach and gave the location of the stolen trailer. Deputies responded to the scene and were told by eye witnesses that Davis dropped off the trailer in a residential area in Santa Rosa Beach.

Just before 1:30 a.m., a WCSO investigator was driving past a gas station in DeFuniak Springs when he spotted the suspect’s black Toyota Tacoma parked at a gas pump. The investigator approached the suspect and saw some of the missing merchandise from Yolo Board in the back of the Davis’s truck.

Jason Davis was arrested for grand theft and was transported to Walton County Jail.
