Walton County, Fla— Money seized during a drug arrest in Santa Rosa Beach is now going back to the community.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office delivered four checks Monday, totaling $5,000 each, to Walton County High Schools. The donations were the result of forfeiture funds confiscated during a drug bust on April 11th, 2016 where WCSO seized more than $140,000 in contraband.

School Resource Deputies from each school delivered the checks to respective Principals at South Walton High School, Freeport High School, Walton High School, and Paxton School.

“Simply put we are turning a negative into a positive for our community,” said Sheriff Michael Adkinson. “I can’t think of a better way to send a message to drug dealers.”

Additional donations are planned in the future to multiple organizations in Walton County.

“This will go directly towards our students,” said Tripp Hope, Principal at Freeport High School. “We are truly grateful.”
