SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER STEALING AIR FORCE VETERAN’S MEDALS/PHOTOS FIVE DAYS BEFORE VETERANS DAY
Paxton, Fla— A suspect is behind bars after stealing precious items from an Air Force veteran living in Walton County just five days before Veteran’s Day.
Sometime between November 2nd and November 6th Jason Leigh Tibbetts broke into the shed behind the victim’s home in Northern Walton County stealing several items from the shed including bicycles, fishing equipment, and a box with the victim’s service medals and photos.
Walton County investigators caught up with Tibbetts in Covington County after he was positively identified from surveillance video captured on the property. Investigators tracked his white Kia Sorento to his home in Florala where he was taken into custody.
The following stolen items have been recovered: tool boxes, power tools, a custom made whip, and a bicycle.
“Nothing will be able to replace those medals and photos,” said Sheriff Michael Adkinson. “But, hopefully this brings some closure for the victim.”
