FUGITIVE WANTED ON STATE AND FEDERAL CHARGES APPREHENDED BY WCSO

A coordinated effort between the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Intelligence Unit, patrol deputies, and surrounding agencies led to the arrest of a fugitive wanted on multiple charges, including a federal warrant for ATM bank burglary.

At approximately 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025, WCSO received a BOLO alert from Bay County for Derron Lanell Skinner, 34 who they believed to be driving towards Walton County. WCSO’s Intelligence Unit quickly identified the suspect’s vehicle, a black Range Rover bearing Texas plates. With their help, deputies were able to quickly locate the vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 20.

Deputies intercepted the vehicle at the intersection of Highway 331 S and Highway 20 in Freeport. After confirming the Texas license plate and vehicle description, WCSO deputies executed a felony stop and safely took Skinner into custody without incident.

“The seamless coordination between our Intelligence Unit and road patrol was key in safely apprehending a suspect with serious charges,” said Sheriff Michael A. Adkinson, Jr. “This is a prime example of technology, teamwork, and good police work coming together to keep our community safe.”

Skinner was transported and booked into the Walton County Jail, where he remains in custody pending extradition by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Jacksonville, Florida.
