SANTA ROSA BEACH MAN ARRESTED FOR BATTERY, CRIMINAL MISCHIEF AFTER GOOD SAMARITAN CALLS 911

On Sunday evening, Walton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a Good Samaritan who witnessed a man push a female to the ground on the side of S County Highway 83 in Santa Rosa Beach.

When she stood up, the caller told dispatchers the man tried pushing her inside the vehicle and shutting the door on her multiple times.
Before deputies got on scene, the suspect, 27-year-old Shane Sanders, ran into the Point Washington State Forest. Deputies apprehended Sanders a short time later and transported him to the Walton County Jail.
It was learned later that Sanders had also caused damage to the inside of the victim’s vehicle by punching the glove box and ripping it from the dashboard.
Sanders had an active warrant for violation of probation on an original charge of DUI. In addition, he was charged with battery and criminal mischief. He was denied bond for the violation of probation.
