BRUCE, Fla—Walton County Fire Rescue firefighters respond to a mobile home fire in Bruce after a neighbor reported heavy flames coming from inside the home.
At 4:12 AM on Wednesday, May 15, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office communications center received a 911 call from a CHELCO employee who stated that a nearby home on Rooks Bluff Road in Bruce was on fire. The caller advised he woke up to a loud “boom,” and quickly ran outside to see where the noise came from. Once outside, he saw a neighboring mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Walton County Fire Rescue firefighters and Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies were promptly dispatched to the home, and upon arrival, found the mobile home had already collapsed from the heavy flames. Firefighters jumped into action and extinguished the fire within minutes.
One resident was home at the time of the fire. Fortunately, because the family dogs began barking when the fire broke out, the resident woke up in time to get herself and her pets out of the home safely.
The fire’s origin is still unknown at this time. The State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to investigate the cause of the fire. The American Red Cross was contacted to provide aid to the residents of the damaged home.
