MURDER SUSPECT ISABELLE JOHNSON ARRESTED IN JACKSON COUNTY BY US MARSHALS; EXTRADITED TO WALTON COUNTY

WALTON COUNTY, FLA – A murder suspect on the run for nearly two months is behind bars in Walton County.

Isabelle Johnson, 38, was extradited from Jackson County and booked into the Walton County Jail Friday morning.

Johnson was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Task Force at a home just outside of Cottondale Thursday, August 13th, following information developed by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crime Unit, which was tracking her communications leading to her location.

Task Force members converged on a home off Peanut Road in Jackson County around 2:30 p.m., and Johnson was immediately taken into custody without incident.

The charges stem from the discovery of the remains of 43-year-old Jason Coulthart on a property in Walton County in June. Coulthart had been reported missing to the Niceville Police Department in late May.

On June 25th, Niceville investigators received information from an individual incarcerated in the Okaloosa County Jail of the location of Coulthart’s body. A search warrant was executed later that night at Sunset Lane in Freeport, where he was found in a shallow grave.

Our agency immediately launched an all-out manhunt for Johnson, ultimately putting together a task force resulting in more than two dozen arrests. Five individuals have been arrested directly related to assisting Johnson following the homicide.

“After an exhaustive 45 days, Johnson was located not from media coverage or tips, although we are very grateful for them, but through the hard work of our investigators,” said Chief Deputy Dustin Cosson. “To every agency that assisted us along the way, we are extremely thankful. Thank you is truly not enough to express our appreciation.”

An investigation into the circumstances that led to Johnson ending up in Cottondale is still ongoing. Additional charges are expected. We appreciate the public’s patience and faith in our agency to bring Johnson in so that justice can be served.
