Home Safety Visits

“Prevention today for protection tomorrow.”

The Home Safety Visit Program is a free, community-based service provided by Walton County Fire Rescue. Our goal is simple: to help families reduce fire and life-safety risks in the place they should feel safest, their home.

During a Home Safety Visit, members of the Fire Prevention Team will:

  • Check and install smoke alarms to ensure your home has proper coverage.
  • Inspect electrical outlets and cords for overloading or unsafe use.
  • Look for fall hazards and other common household dangers.
  • Review and practice escape plans so every family member knows what to do in an emergency.
  • Share practical, personalized safety tips tailored to your home and lifestyle.

This is not an inspection or code enforcement visit. It’s about education, prevention, and peace of mind. Our firefighters are there to answer questions, provide resources, and leave you better prepared to keep your loved ones safe.

Together, we can prevent emergencies before they happen, and make Walton County a safer place to live, one home at a time.
