INDIANA MAN CHARGED WITH SOLICITING 12-YEAR-OLD FOR SEX; ARRESTED BY US MARSHALS TASK FORCE AND EXTRADITED TO WALTON COUNTY
WALTON COUNTY, FLA— An Indiana man is now facing charges of soliciting a child for sex for having a sexual relationship online with a 12-year-old in Walton County.
In April of 2024, Walton County Sheriff’s Office took a report regarding concerning information found on a 12-year-old’s phone. The reporting person was their legal guardian and discovered emails between the 12-year-old and 23-year-old Spencer Tomlinson of Lafayette, Indiana.
The case was forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Bureau and in May a search warrant was granted and served to Google.
The results of the search warrant were emails containing conversations and images passed between the victim and Tomlinson where he knowingly had a sexual relationship with the 12-year-old.
A warrant was issued for Tomlinson’s arrest and on August 15th he was taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force and taken into custody in Tippecanoe County, Indiana.
“We applaud the diligence of the guardian who took it upon themselves to check the victim’s phone and other devices,” said Sheriff Michael Adkinson. “We encourage parents to talk to their children about the dangers of online relationships and interacting with people you don’t know on the internet.”
Tomlinson was extradited to Walton County on August 25th and is charged with online solicitation of a minor for sex and use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony. He was given a $50,000 bond and is still incarcerated at the time of this release.
