On the evening of Thursday, June 5, 2014, a Deputy with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the area of Morrison Springs Road in Ponce De Leon, FL, for failure to dim bright lights with oncoming traffic. The Deputy made contact with the driver, Amber Haney, 25, of 49 Crocus Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, and the passenger Zachary Floyd, 27, of 10171 S County Highway 183, Ponce De Leon. He noticed both individuals were extremely nervous. They were visibly shaking, and their voices were quivering. When the Deputy asked for permission to search their vehicle, they agreed. Upon searching the car, Deputies located a plastic bottle containing fuel and ammonium nitrate. They also discovered a lithium battery that was cut open, coffee filters, and a scale with methamphetamine residue. These items are typical of a “One Pot” methamphetamine lab (AKA Shake and Bake).
Both Floyd and Haney were arrested and transported to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Jail. Both were given a $5,000 bond.
