On March 31 (Monday), deputies were trying to locate an open house party in Santa Rosa Beach while on foot. As deputies approached the residence, Brandon Hardee, 17, of 1730 Bucks Club Drive, Alpharetta, GA, was also walking towards the same residence and was in possession of two beer cans which he tried to conceal once he saw the deputies approach. One of the deputies tried to make contact with Hardee, who forcefully hit the deputy in the upper chest and attempted to flee. A struggle ensued which took both Hardee and the deputy to the ground. Hardee continued to resist but was eventually placed in handcuffs. A search of his person was conducted and deputies found a small amount of marijuana and a smoking device. Hardee was booked at the Walton County Jail and was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer without violence, possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a person under the age of 21.
