As the 2014 Hurricane Season approaches, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Walton County Emergency Management and Alaqua Animal Refuge are teaming up to prepare Walton County pet owners to have a plan in place in the event of an evacuation. Pet owners should have an evacuation plan and the most important thing citizens can do for their pets is to make sure their immunizations are current, they have proper identification and insure pets have a safe place to stay. A FREE event will take place at Alaqua Unleashed to help pet owners get the information they need to be ready. Information provided will cover disaster supply kits for pets, evacuation shelter information, pet-friendly lodging, protecting large animals and much more. Local vets will be on hand to talk about microchip identification. Activities for the kids will be on hand to include a petting zoo, face painting and more.
When: Saturday, June 21st, 9 am to 12 pm
Where: Alaqua Unleashed, located at 342 JD Miller Road, Santa Rosa Beach, 32459
