  • Walton County Emergency Notification System

    The Walton County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center partnered with Hyper-Reach Emergency Notification Systems, an industry leader with over 10 years of experience notifying communities. Hyper-Reach allows the Sheriff’s Office to quickly send a message to residents in a specific area informing them of an emergency situation that may require action on their part.  The system is designed to send thousands of calls or messages simultaneously.  It has been successfully used on countless occasions for incidents such as hazardous chemical releases, missing persons, barricaded persons, storm warnings, boil water alerts and much more.  The message informs residents of what is occurring and what steps they need to take along with informing them of when the incident is over.The Sheriff’s Off ...

  • Father and Son Arrested on Multiple Weapons and Drug Charges

    The Walton County Sheriff’s Office, along with assistance from the ATF, arrested Larry Hall and Larry Hall Jr., both of 1060 Delaware Road, Defuniak Springs, Tuesday, April 15th.  A member of the Sheriff’s Office posed undercover to trade a firearm with Larry Hall, Jr., who is a convicted felon.  Hall was subsequently arrested at an undisclosed location in Mossy Head and the firearm was recovered.  A search warrant was conducted at the suspect’s home, mentioned above, and ten firearms ranging from a 45 caliber pistol, 30-06 rifle, sawed off shotgun, AK-47, two military carbines, several 22 caliber rifles and a single shot shotgun were seized.  In addition, numerous items of drug paraphernalia was also found, along with cannabis which was stored in separate bags consiste ...

  • WCSO Warns Citizens of Facebook Powerball Scam

    The Walton County Sheriff’s Office wants to warn citizens about a scam called Facebook Powerball Lottery.  An investigator with the Sheriff’s Office is currently working on a case where a citizen was contacted by one of her friends on Facebook to go claim her prize that she won on the Facebook Powerball Lottery.  The citizen was then contacted by an unknown person, not on her Facebook friends list and was informed that she won $150,000.  She was asked to send $1,500, via Western Union, and in turn, she would receive the $150,000.  The subject also asked for her name, date of birth, address, cell phone number and e-mail address.  Thankfully, the citizen did not send any money and reported the scam to the Sheriff’s Office.  If you are solicited on Facebook regar ...

  • One Arrested on Multiple Drug Charges

      On Wednesday, April 9, 2014, members of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Vice/ Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at 504 Musset Bayou Road, Santa Rosa Beach.  More than 14 grams of finished product methamphetamine, numerous hypodermic syringes, spoons with residue, working digital scale with residue, cut straws and approximately 30 broken up suspected Xanax pills were seized.  William Travis Glass, 35, residence listed above, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine and possession of narcotic equipment.  Glass was booked at the Walton County Jail.   ...

  • Impersonation of an LEO Leads to Methamphetamine Arrest

    On Thursday, April 3, 2014, members of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Vice/ Narcotics Unit along with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) conducted an investigation targeting John Travis Clark, of 3222 Chat Holley Road, Santa Rosa Beach, who was suspected of manufacturing methamphetamine.  As a result of the investigation, agents searched Clark’s residence and located approximately 1500 grams of suspected methamphetamine oil and paraphernalia used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine.  The investigation identified Clark as a suspect after Clark had identified himself as an undercover law enforcement officer to facilitate the purchase of pseudoephedrine, which is a precursor chemical used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine.   • Suspected Arrested on Multiple Charges to Include Breaking a Patrol Car Window

    On Monday, April 7th, a deputy responded to the Florida Department of Corrections Probation Office, located at 2338 Hwy 90, Defuniak Springs, to serve a warrant.  The suspect, Robin Cooper, 28, of 186 N 7th Street, Santa Rosa Beach, violated her probation and was placed under arrest.  While the deputy was escorting Cooper to the patrol car, Cooper began to resist.  A probation officer assisted the deputy in getting Cooper in the backseat of the patrol car.  As the deputy was pulling away from the probation office, Cooper starting kicking the right rear passenger window causing damage.  Cooper then proceeded to kick the left rear driver side window, broke it and crawled out the window.  Cooper began running back to the probation office and the deputy was able t ...

  • Jack Adair, III, Arrested for Multiple Charges

    Jack Donald Adair, III, 22, of 56 W Orange Avenue, Defuniak Springs, was arrested on Thursday, April 3rd, for armed burglary, two counts of larceny of a firearm and criminal mischief.  On March 14th, Adair broke into a home off Steele Church Road, Defuniak Springs, and stole two firearms and prescription pills.  On the same day, Adair, sold one of the firearms to a pawn shop in Defuniak Springs.  Adair was previously arrested for two counts of dealing in stolen property.    ...

  • Sexual Predators and Sexual Offenders Will Now Register at the Walton County Jail

      As of today, Monday, April 7th, Sexual Predators and Sexual Offenders who move to Walton County or have to update their address within the county must register at the Walton County Jail, located at 796 Triple G Road, Defuniak Springs.  Registration will take place on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 8 am to 11 am and 12 pm to 4 pm.  For more information, please call the Walton County Jail at 850.892.8196.   There are currently 147 registered sex offenders/predators living in Walton County.   The WCSO encourages families to visit www.flsexoffender.net to subscribe to receive e-mail alert notifications when registered sexual offenders or predators move into neighborhoods.  WCSO also encourages citizens to use the neighborhood search feature prior to sig ...
