Hiring Process
Before appointment to any position with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, applicants must successfully complete multiple steps in the hiring process, which can take 4 – 8 weeks depending upon the position.

Civilian Support Opportunities
While the primary function of the Sheriff’s Office is law enforcement, some of the agency positions are staffed by civilian support personnel. Qualifications for civilian support positions vary. The WCSO accepts employment applications online and through our Employment Application Kiosks.  The kiosks are located in the lobby of the North Administration Building at 752 Triple G Road DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433 and South Walton Substation at 133 Sheriff’s Driver Santa Rosa Beach, FL

Applicants must attach digital copies of the following documents to their application:

  • High School Diploma, GED or college transcripts
  • CJSTC Certificate or Letter of Passing Score on State Exam (Sworn applicants only)
