  • Sexual Offender Patrick Michael Odell Address Notification

    Odell was adjudicated on 10/29/1997 for lewd and lascivious on a child under 16 in Okaloosa County.  On 10/10/2005, Odell was adjudicated for failing to register as a sexual offender in Walton County and adjudicated again on 1/05/2012 for failing to register as a sexual offender in Holmes County.  Odell’s current address is 785 Adams Road, Defuniak Springs.Odell is a 35 year old white male, with brown hair and brown eyes, 5’04” and 122 lbs.There are currently 148 registered sex offenders/predators living in Walton County.The WCSO encourages families to visit www.flsexoffender.net to subscribe to receive e-mail alert notifications when registered sexual offenders or predators move into neighborhoods.  WCSO also encourages citizens to use the neighborhood search feature prior ...

    Gable was adjudicated on 03/23/2009 for possession of photo of sexual performance by a child in Okaloosa County.  Gable’s current address is 7588 E County Highway 30A Unit 6, Panama City Beach.Gable is a 50 year old white male, with brown hair and green eyes, 6’02” and 187 lbs.There are currently 147 registered sex offenders/predators living in Walton County.The WCSO encourages families to visit www.flsexoffender.net to subscribe to receive e-mail alert notifications when registered sexual offenders or predators move into neighborhoods.  WCSO also encourages citizens to use the neighborhood search feature prior to signing up for alerts to identify registered sexual offenders and predators currently living in neighborhoods.   ...

  • WCSO to Donate 5 AED’s to Local Little Leagues and Football Fields

    In the wake of a local Walton County junior varsity player collapsing during baseball practice last month, Sheriff Mike Adkinson and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office is donating five AED’s to be placed at the following locations: Paxton Little League Field, Defuniak Springs Little League Field, Defuniak Springs Youth Football Program, Freeport Little League and the Freeport Youth Football Program and South Walton Little League and the South Walton Youth Football Program.  An AED is a portable electronic device that can assist in diagnosing and treating heart attacks.  Minimally trained/non-medical personnel can easily use it.  However, the Sheriff’s Office Training Division will be providing instruction.   • Search for Missing/Runaway Juvenile

    The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Johnny Kirk, 15, of Freeport, FL.  Kirk was last seen by his mother boarding a school bus around 6 am on April 16th.  Kirk is 5’1, weighs 106 lbs and has blonde hair and blue eyes.  Kirk was last seen wearing a Freeport High School t-shirt, blue jeans, a black jacket and blue/white tennis shoes.  Anyone with information on Johnny Kirk is asked to please contact Investigator Rome Garrett at the Walton County Sheriff’s Office at 850.892.8111.      ...

  • WCSO Jail Recognizes Employee of the Month

    Detention Deputy James Hall is selected as the top employee of the month for May.  Bravo shift supervisor, Sergeant Larry Adams stated, “Due to James’s exceptional organizational skills, Bravo shift was able to book 44 spring breakers and release 52 (8 from the day shift) within the first night of spring break.”  After completing several details at Seascape, during spring break, Deputy Hall stayed over to assist his fellow deputies at the jail to help expedite the booking and release process.  In over a two week period, Deputy Hall’s shift booked 278 and released 257 individuals.The Sheriff’s Office is extremely proud of Deputy Hall, who has been with the jail since May of 1996.    ...

  • Walton County Emergency Notification System

    The Walton County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center partnered with Hyper-Reach Emergency Notification Systems, an industry leader with over 10 years of experience notifying communities. Hyper-Reach allows the Sheriff’s Office to quickly send a message to residents in a specific area informing them of an emergency situation that may require action on their part.  The system is designed to send thousands of calls or messages simultaneously.  It has been successfully used on countless occasions for incidents such as hazardous chemical releases, missing persons, barricaded persons, storm warnings, boil water alerts and much more.  The message informs residents of what is occurring and what steps they need to take along with informing them of when the incident is over.The Sheriff’s Off ...

  • Father and Son Arrested on Multiple Weapons and Drug Charges

    The Walton County Sheriff’s Office, along with assistance from the ATF, arrested Larry Hall and Larry Hall Jr., both of 1060 Delaware Road, Defuniak Springs, Tuesday, April 15th.  A member of the Sheriff’s Office posed undercover to trade a firearm with Larry Hall, Jr., who is a convicted felon.  Hall was subsequently arrested at an undisclosed location in Mossy Head and the firearm was recovered.  A search warrant was conducted at the suspect’s home, mentioned above, and ten firearms ranging from a 45 caliber pistol, 30-06 rifle, sawed off shotgun, AK-47, two military carbines, several 22 caliber rifles and a single shot shotgun were seized.  In addition, numerous items of drug paraphernalia was also found, along with cannabis which was stored in separate bags consiste ...

  • WCSO Warns Citizens of Facebook Powerball Scam

    The Walton County Sheriff’s Office wants to warn citizens about a scam called Facebook Powerball Lottery.  An investigator with the Sheriff’s Office is currently working on a case where a citizen was contacted by one of her friends on Facebook to go claim her prize that she won on the Facebook Powerball Lottery.  The citizen was then contacted by an unknown person, not on her Facebook friends list and was informed that she won $150,000.  She was asked to send $1,500, via Western Union, and in turn, she would receive the $150,000.  The subject also asked for her name, date of birth, address, cell phone number and e-mail address.  Thankfully, the citizen did not send any money and reported the scam to the Sheriff’s Office.  If you are solicited on Facebook regar ...

  • One Arrested on Multiple Drug Charges

      On Wednesday, April 9, 2014, members of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Vice/ Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at 504 Musset Bayou Road, Santa Rosa Beach.  More than 14 grams of finished product methamphetamine, numerous hypodermic syringes, spoons with residue, working digital scale with residue, cut straws and approximately 30 broken up suspected Xanax pills were seized.  William Travis Glass, 35, residence listed above, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine and possession of narcotic equipment.  Glass was booked at the Walton County Jail.   ...

School Resource Deputies

One of the agency's most viable crime prevention and outreach programs is the School Resource Deputy (SRD) Program. Lieutenant James Pitman oversees fourteen (14) SRD's who provide security for students, faculty and visitors to the Walton County school system. SRD's provide the following training programs to students: crime prevention, community service and good citizenship. The SRD's attend regular meetings with faculty, students, and parents to become involved in every facet of school life for the purpose of establishing student rapport, preventing crime and victimization, and to encourage healthy growth and development.
