  • Suspect Responsible for Convenience Store Armed Robbery Identified Thanks to Finger Print/DNA Analysis

      On January 27th, 2015, Walton County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies, K9 Unit, Investigators and Crime Scene Unit, along with members of the Walton Corrections Institute K9 Unit, responded to an armed robbery that occurred shortly after 7 pm at the EZ Serve, located at 10970 Co Hwy 30A East.  A white male came into the store carrying a handgun and took $779.94 from the register and fled on foot.  Finger print and DNA samples from the scene were collected as evidence and submitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Evidence Laboratory for analysis.  On April 2nd, the sheriff’s office received a report that the DNA and finger prints belonged to 32 year old Simeon Lee Prevatt, of 800 Wrights Creek Road, Caryville, FL.    Prevatt is currently serv ...

  • Suspect Charged for Raping 15 Year Old Victim

      Deputies responded to a Freeport residence yesterday morning (April 15) after WCSO Dispatch received a call from a girl in need of medical assistance.  Deputies knocked on the door and identified themselves and asked if anyone was inside the residence by the name the caller had given to the communications officer.  A male’s voice was heard and stated “No.”  Dispatch advised deputies that the caller stated she heard the male say no and that she was inside the residence.  Deputies opened the door and saw a black male, later identified as 50 year old Dan Wayne Marshall, laying on the couch to the right of the front door completely naked, with his genitalia fully exposed.  The deputy asked Marshall if there was someone else in the residence and he again stated, ...

  • WCSO Receives LifeNet Health of Florida Community Partner Award

    Sheriff Michael Adkinson, Jr. and members of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Communications Department will be awarded the 2014 Community Partner Award from LifeNet Health of Florida.  The award is given annually to public safety programs who demonstrate compassion, compliance and consistency in fulfilling the final wishes for tissue and eye donation of hospice patients and at home deaths.  The sheriff’s office has partnered with LifeNet Health to ensure that all citizens have the option to honor the wishes of their loved ones to help others who are in need of transplant tissue.   The Walton County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard Unit will participate in a flag raising ceremony during an award presentation that will take place on Thursday, April 23rd at 9:30 a.m. at the Wa ...

  • One Arrested for Attempting to Light Residence on Fire with Child Present

       Deputies responded to a domestic violence call last night (Monday, April 13) at a residence in DeFuniak Springs.  After speaking to the victims and witnesses, patrol deputies learned that a verbal altercation had taken place between James Franklin Sparra, 48, and another individual who was at the residence.  Sparra threatened the individual by telling him he was going to cut him and chased him outside the residence while being armed with a kitchen knife.  Sparra came back to the residence, went inside and began pouring gasoline inside the home where his girlfriend and child were present.  Sparra also poured gasoline onto the waist and legs of his girlfriend and stated they would "burn in hell" and attempted to light the fumes with a lighter found in his po ...

  • Deputies Nab 3 Burglary Suspects from Arkansas/Texas and Recover Stolen Property

    On Saturday morning, April 11, 2015, deputies arrived at an apartment complex in Miramar Beach, after receiving a call from a resident who heard his car alarm go off.  He observed two males run from his vehicle, heading south on Ellis Road.  A detailed description of the suspects was given to deputies patrolling the area.  Deputy Buddy Burgess was in close proximity to the apartment complex and spotted the two suspects fleeing towards a wooded area off Ellis Road.  Deputy Burgess proceeded south on Ellis Road and spotted a Silver S-10 Blazer parked in a lot of another apartment complex with a male sitting in the driver seat.  Contact was made and the male was detained for questioning.  Deputy Kristin Pond spotted one of the suspects matchin ...

  • Family Friend Arrested for Inappropriately Touching a Juvenile

    The Walton County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Georgia man for inappropriately touching a 15 year old girl.  The juvenile victim contacted the sheriff’s office, deputies arrived and immediately detained the suspect.  Investigators with the Criminal Investigation Bureau spoke with the victim who stated that the suspect began rubbing her back and then proceeded to pull down her shorts and kiss her buttocks.  The suspect also put his hands under shirt and rubbed her breasts in a forceful manner.  The suspect, Michael L. Keffer, 51, of Augusta, GA, told investigators that he suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and could not recall the incident.  Keffer was arrested and charged with Lewd and Lascivious Behavior on a victim under 16 years of age.  He ...

  • WCSO Locates Car Burglary Suspects in Okaloosa County

    A visitor from Kentucky walked outside of the home he was renting off Ruby Cove in Miramar Beach, to load luggage in his car only to find his daughter’s vehicle trunk open.  Two females were seen rummaging through the victim’s luggage and when confronted, both suspects began running south towards Scenic Gulf.  The victim’s father ran after them and detained one of the suspects but was struck in the face by the other suspect.  During the altercation, both suspects dropped personal belongings consisting of clothes, flip flops, a purse and a bag.  During a search of the suspect’s items, a set of rental car keys were found inside the purse belonging to a red Toyota Camry with tag number of L247490.  Deputies canvassed the area and located the vehicle parked at 3695 Bea ...

  • Suspect Arrested for Attempted Murder for Stabbing Girlfriend Multiple Times in DeFuniak Springs – Also a Person of Interest out of Albuquerque, New Mexico

    Omar Romero, 20, who is a person of interest for a murder that occurred in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was arrested by Walton County Sheriff’s Office Deputies on Saturday evening (April 4th), after stabbing his girlfriend with a knife multiple times.    Romero and his girlfriend, Sally Brown, 20, arrived in Walton County from New Mexico on Saturday afternoon, April 4th.  They were staying with Brown’s relatives who live at 119 Gator Run Road, DeFuniak Springs.  Family members arrived at the residence around 6:30 pm after returning from the grocery store and heard Brown screaming inside the residence.  They entered the home and saw Romero with a knife in his hand, wearing a glove, swinging it towards Brown.  Brown managed to escape while family members heard Ro ...

  • Suspect Arrested on Multiple Charges after Attacking Ex-Girlfriend

      On Saturday, March 28th, deputies responded to a physical altercation at a home off Wildwood Drive in Freeport.  Two white males were observed by deputies fighting inside the home.  Both individuals were separated and identified as 35 year old Brandon Shaw and 34 year old Zachary Price.  The homeowner, 33 year old Amber Cook, relayed to deputies that she had a trespass warning issued for Price who had walked thru her front door without her consent.  When she asked him to leave, Price began threatening her.  As Cook was trying to make her way out of the residence, Price grabbed her and pulled her back inside the house and struck her in the back of the head.  Shaw observed the incident and immediately ran to Cook’s defense.  Shaw and Price got into ...

  • WCSO is Currently Raising Money for Project “Everyone Plays”

      The Walton County Sheriff’s Office wants to raise $10,000 to install wheel chair swings that accommodate disabled citizens at several parks in Walton County.  We are seeking the community’s help to assist us in this effort and have created an account for those who wish to donate.  Inmates of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office Jail will help with the preparation of each location and installation of the swings.  Once all the money is raised, the work will begin.  Sheriff Adkinson stated, “We have beautiful parks, but there is a need for disabled accessible play equipment.  I hope the community will join our “Swing Team” and help us reach our goal to create parks that welcomes every one of all abilities to enjoy the fun.”   To donate, please visit: htt ...

Kathy Lolley came to the Walton County Sheriff's Office from Enterprise, Alabama where she served as the County Administrator. Her experience with Coffee County included the responsibility for the county-wide budgets, planning, personnel and direct supervision of all Commission staff. She served as the liaison between the County Commissioners and all other county elected officials and department heads.

She began her career in public accounting in 1979 after graduating with her degree in Business Administration from Troy University and was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant by the State Board of Accountancy in 1982. As a shareholder in the accounting firm of Carr, Galloway, Lolley and Averett, P.C. she was involved with the administration of an accounting practice in addition to quality control and audits of county and municipal governments.

In 1996 she sold her share in the accounting practice and obtained the designation of Personal Financial Specialist. She worked as a consultant several years while she spent additional quality time with her two young daughters, Michelle and Beth. Kathy also has experience in the financial institution arena where she held the position of Vice President of Accounting and Operations for the Citizens Bank in Enterprise, Alabama. She was responsible for the supervision of the accounting staff and for all regulatory and compliance reporting.
