animal-control-01This department handles lost dogs and cats and can assist with complaints about nearby animal problems. The shelter may have recovered your dog or cat, so please refer to the "Found Dogs" and "Found Cats" links or follow the "Petfinder" link to view photographs of recovered pets. This section also provides information to help raise and enjoy a dog or cat in Walton County, Florida.

ADOPTIONS

Overview

Dogs and cats that are obtained by Walton County Animal Control are taken to our new animal control facility to be reunited with their families or where they can be adopted if no family claims the lost dog or cat.

The Shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm.

Families have seven days to claim their lost dog or cat. To adopt one of these animals, contact the animal shelter as soon as possible and ask to be placed on a list should the animal not be claimed by an owner.
 

Costs

  • Dogs: :  Includes spade or neutering fees, rabies vaccinations,heart worm tests(not treatment), and first series of booster vaccines
  • Puppies:  :  Includes spade or neutering fees, rabies vaccinations, heart worm tests(not treatment), and first series of booster vaccines 
  • Cats: :  Includes spade or neutering fees, rabies vaccinations, feline leukemia tests, and first series of booster vaccines
  • Kittens: :  Includes spade or neutering fees, rabies vaccinations, feline leukemia tests, and first series of booster vaccines
Animals for adoption must be at least 8 weeks of age.
